“Hands across the water... hands across the sea...!
These words from an old song are a good way to describe the contribution of visiting faculty. During Summer 2007 IU has been assisted by:
Herman Alexander from Texas who regularly teaches Bible in New Zealand and teaches the Life of Christ.
Dr. Michael Gunter from Tennessee Technological University who is an expert in Political Science and has taught during six summers.
Ray Nelson who teaches Production Operation Management and used his decades of experience with Procter & Gamble in Pringles.
Students and teacher are pictured here with Pringles in hand.
Dr. Coleman Patterson from Texas who is on Sabbatical and teaching Bachelor’s and Master’s Human Resource Management and also E-Commerce.
Dr. Robert van Cleave from Argosy University lent his expertise in Statistics and Quantitative Methods for Management in the MBA program.
Welcome to Visiting Faculty!
Exchange Opportunity
Teaching our international students in Vienna and Kiev is a unique learning experience! Visiting faculty often express that they gain much by interacting with students from around the world. Students bring to the class their own real-life, firsthand perspectives and backgrounds on issues and subject matter.
Here is what Dr. Richard Selcer, historian, author, and regular visiting professor from Texas, has to say:
"Teaching at IU can be an eye-opening experience for the professor. I will never forget the time a student ... challenged my comfortable concepts of so-called ’Western civilization’ by asking why we only talked about Western Europe, hardly ever about Eastern Europe ... I suddenly realized ... there is a built-in bias in the traditional teaching of Western Civilization ... Both students and teacher grew on that occasion."
If you would like to join IU's teaching staff in Vienna for:
a semester
an academic year
an intensive one-month summer session
a sabbatical
