Periodically we like to provide an update regarding students and alumni. Below there is information concerning current students, followed by recent information received within the past few weeks from former students and alumni:
Ahmed A. is working for a travel agency; his qualifications in Arabic, English and German gave him a special edge over the competition
Armen M. is doing an internship with RRS here in Vienna in Capital Strategy Services, and has also been invited to assist in implementing a branch of Liberty International Tourism Group in Armenia.
Daniel K. is working for FPE Financial Planning Establishment
Fazli D. is working for Executive Lounge International, Consultants in Leadership.
Fjona A. has been granted an internship at Raiffeisen Bank, International Corporate Department in Accounting/Finance in Albania
Ksenia S. is doing an internship at the Atomic Energy Agency in the Finance Department.
Nele S. was one of 20 pre-selected out of 1.600 German citizens for German Foreign Ministry Level 4 training
Nora K. is doing an internship at UNIDO in the Europe and Newly Independent States Programme
Rami A. is currently working in the UNIDO Field Office in Sudan as a Junior Analyst.
Szende D. is a Project Assistant at IFB Austria, a financial consultancy and management solutions company

Mahmoud A. is HR Assistant at the OPEC Secretariat in Vienna
Ana B. is returning to work at IBM in Vienna after taking time off for the birth of her daughter, Valentina.
Matt B. works in Marketing at the Baumax Headquarters in Austria
Olga D. is working for EFG Eurofinanciere d’Investissements, EFG bank in Monaco
Jalil G. is responsible for media and culture at the Permanent Mission of Afghanistan and Representative to NATO and the EU in Brussels.
Dhafar G. is First Secretary at the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Vienna
Namik H. is working as Deputy Project Manager on CRPR (Community Reconciliation through Poverty Reduction Project) in Bosnia.
Ivica H. recently wrote that his life since graduation took him to work in peacekeeping, NATO, to almost 10 years of working in De-Mining, and now to DZS, where "I am a commercial director of DZS, which is quite a conglomerate, and I live a very peaceful life...blessed with a superb wife (married 14 years)....Six years ago we ever so gratefully have received our daughter....We have a modest house on the outskirts of Zagreb."
Alina I. is working for Export Consult, a consultancy and project development corporation
Manuela M. is working with the Hayek Institute in Vienna. The Institute commemorates the work of Nobel Laureate Friedrich August von Hayek and promotes the ideas of the Austrian School of Economics. Prior to her new post with Hayek, Manuela worked for Adecco GmbH, a personnel company in Vienna
Marko M. works for Raffeisen Bank in Slovenia.
Oleg M. works as a Senior staff member in the M&A department of Deloitte and Touche in Ukraine.
Renata M. one of IU's distinguished alumni who has been working for CTBTO in Vienna for several years, has also been assisting in networking with other alumni and building a contact database. We greatly appreciate her efforts!
Anna-Mercedes O. completed her doctorate at Washington International University. She and her husband, Ferenc P., also an IU graduate have founded two companies with activities across Central and European Europe, in addition to a company in London. They are also the proud new parents of a baby boy.
Sana M. works as Project Assistant for UNDCP, and is also the mother of two children. She is our own Rola Dis's sister.
Andrijana R. and Terglav G. are proud parents of two sons. Andrijana has worked for the Embassy of South Africa in Vienna for a number of years and Gugi worked for IBM-Slovakia and now IBM-Austria.
Nejla S. is working at UNDP in Bosnia. Before this new assignment, she worked as UNV RIVER SEE Volunteer Exchanges Coordinator with UNV/UNDP in Bosnia.
Andrey Z. works for Lukoil in Vienna

As this academic year draws to a close, I wish to thank you for your important role in making it a successful year! I would also like to update you about opportunities of our students and alumni related to their careers. (This is information we have just received recently. I hope you will be encouraged by this, as well as other opportunities you find listed on our Career Opportunities handout in the Admissions Office).
Wessam A., MIB graduate from Lebanon is beginning a job with the Ministry of Labour, United Arab Emirates
Bruno B. is working in Brazil this summer for JB-Prestagao de Servicos (Service Industry)
Jovana B. recently began an internship with the OSCE, Parliamentary Assembly, Austria
Barbara B., DASS graduate from Slovenia, is working with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Slovenia
Evgheni C., MIB graduate from Moldova, is working for Credit Europe Bank, the Netherlands
Paul C., B.A. graduate from Turkey (whom some of you met during his June visit to Vienna), was promoted from clerk at the Motor Vehicle Administration in Maryland to System Manager, and then later to Branch Manager. He also got his MBA from Mount St. Mary’s University
Elena C., MBA graduate from Ukraine, just left her career with Arthur Morris Christiansen Co. in Bermuda, where she served as an auditor, to join her husband’s family in Canada
Mladen C. has been granted an internship in August with Alco Banka A.D. Belgrade in the Retail Banking department.
Daniela C., graduating this summer, has had an internship at NLB Tuzlanska Bank, Bosnia and is now working with the International Economic Fair Mostar, Bosnia
Muhammed F., B.B.A. graduate from Bosnia, has been working for Porr Technobau und Umwelt Aktiensgesellschaft in Vienna; the company will finance his MBA at IU this Fall semester.
Kim G., who graduated this summer with her B.A. in Diplomatic Studies, has been doing an internship with Elopak, a major world-wide packaging firm
Abdul J. G. presented a paper at the Summer School for Young Professionals 2007, Introduction into Security Policy, topic: “Global Security Challenges of Today” at the National Academy of Defense, Slovakia
Markus G. recently left the Austrian Armed Forces, Language Institute to work in the Austrian Parliament as an Assistant to a Party Member and Delegate
Joey I., who received his MIB this summer, had a meaningful internship with UNIDO, in the Asian Development branch
Marija J.c, who received her MIB, is completing an internship at the IAEA in the Finance Department.
Momcilo J., who received his B.B.A. from IU in summer 2006, is working for Bentour Austria as Finance Manager and Accounting Advisor.
Dorothy K., finishing her first year at IU, has been working for Amnesty International
Galina K., MBA graduate from Kiev, is working with Procter & Gamble, Ukraine, in the Finance Department.
Tamas L., B.B.A. graduate from Hungary, is studying at Harvard in the Edward S. Mason Mid-Career Master of Public Administration and Management program. He has also served as political adviser for Hungarian NATO troops in Afghanistan, led OSCE support operations to monitor the Georgian-Chechan border, served as OXFAM GB Regional Programme Funding Coordinator for South America.
Ezequiel M., graduate of the Advanced DASS program, will begin working as instructor and research assistant at the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya’s Lauder School of Government in Israel in September.

Carmelita R., MBA graduate from Indonesia, is working with Citibank, Indonesia
Stephanie R. looks forward to spending the Spring semester in Washington where she will be an intern for the Austrian Ambassador
Natalija R., finishing her MIB this summer, is doing an internship with Schutz Marketing Services, where she is conducting marketing research on the pharmaceutical Industry in Ukraine
Nelle S., B.A. graduate from Germany, is working with Lemongrass Marketing Consultancy, as New Business Manager.
Jaber S. is enjoying being an intern at OPEC in the Marketing department, with prospects for a job in the Fall
Vasyl S. has been approved for an internship with the Ukrainian Embassy as of 1 Sept.
Samira S., Doctoral graduate of IU from Libya, serves as Instructor at the American University, Dubai, and also works for Franchise Development Service, as a FDS manager helping international companies begin franchises.
Glorija S., who is working on her MBA thesis, is employed by the Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban treaty Organization (CTBTO), International Cooperation Section, Legal and External Relation Division. She earlier completed an internship with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Nejra S., finishing her B.A. in Diplomatic Studies this summer, begins an internship at the Parliament in Bosnia on Monday morning.
I hope you will be encouraged, by this very extensive list, to do your very best. Udates from time to time help us all to realize the importance of the task of learning. These opportunities are also evidence that the IU programs are preparing students well in their chosen fields.
If you have information about opportunities, please share it with us. Also, as you learn of difficulties and tragedies (as we had this past week), keep us informed so we can show our support for IU students, faculty, and their families.
I wish you a lovely summer holiday, and looking forward to seeing you in September, I remain
